It’s my dad’s birthday today. He’s kind of a special guy. I pity the fool who’d attempt a personality profile on him because he’s one of those people that words just were not made to describe. There aren’t enough words and there are too many words. So instead here’s a picture. (Click here) This is us waiting on the flight line for dad to come home from leading an F-16 squadron in Operation Desert Storm. We’ve made lots of American-flag-clad flight line appearances as a family, but I can honestly say that whether dad is coming home from war or just a day of work, the whole family kind of buzzes in anticipation of his arrival. Dad walking into your day, classroom, basketball game, ballet recital, you name it, always made things better. I could obviously go on and on but I like to think that the best explanation for why my dad is so great is pretty simple: everyone, everywhere is excited for him to arrive. He’s good to have around.

Happy Birthday Daddio. Any day you want to be less of a stud so I can find a guy that doesn’t look like a scrub compared to you, I’d be most grateful.
